the missing shoe club

now don't get too excited...Noah is NOT a member of the missing shoe club, but he has come pretty close!!  Since it has turned into a lovely spring, Noah's been wearing his crocks a bit despite the fact that they still seem a tad big.  Well, we needed to take a quick trip to weggies and so we just slipped those on super quickly.  I should have known we'd be in trouble cause they fell off a few times in the store but thankfully there were nice shoppers to tell us this.  We pack up the car and came home.  As I went to pull Noah out of his car seat i realized that he only had one shoe!!  It was no where to be found inside the car and so I guessed that we lost it somewhere in the parking lot of weggies.  So after i haul the groceries inside, we head back to the store.  thank goodness its a quick drive.  I paced through the parking lot and got super sad that we lost a shoe since it was no where to be found.  But, i figured just to be safe, I'd go in and ask customer service whether they found anything.  well guess what??!!!  They found it!!!  how awesome is wegmans?  they saved the day.  so, no, Noah is not a member of the missing shoe club even though his mama is.  :-)  

i have to tell you about the coolest shorts that we got noah.  He's sorta in between sizes right now.  the 18 month shorts are good in length but kinda tight in the belly, especially if he's wearing a cloth diaper, but the 24 month shorts are kinda long despite the fact that they fit better around the waist.  Well...i found a pair of 24 month shorts that have a built in belt that you can adjust so that it fits just right.  they are amazing!!  i highly recommend them.  but, seeing as we have a short legged boy, the 24 month shorts actually looked a little more like capris!!  they are too cute.

we are going to be in trouble in a few short weeks, i think.  noah has figured out how doors open.  he can't quite reach the handles, but i'm sure he will soon.  this is problematic since we have been keeping our front door open and just using the screen door that doesn't have a lock on it.  i don't think i've ever seen a child proofing mechanism for screen doors.  an even bigger worry is that he brought his little step stool over to the front door today and got up on it.  he can certainly reach the handle that way.  oh boy!!!  what a smarty pants.

well, it has been a year and a half of no bad breath out of the littleman.  he always had such a nice baby smell...but, i'm sorry to admit that those days are on the way out.  with his appetite becoming more grown up, he's had more and more smelly foods.  so, yes, watch out for little mr stinky breath  now.  ok, so its not bad, but its just not little baby smell anymore.  pleasant, i'm sure, huh?

i think potty training may be getting closer too.  i don't think we're ready by any means, but he's starting to show signs that he is getting ready.  He's getting a lot better at telling us either when he has to go or when he's just gone to the bathroom by signing potty or by pointing to the potty or by pointing to his diaper.  i'm sorta excited but at the same time a little nervous since i've heard that potty training is a long and difficult process, especially for boys.

we've also started seeing the beginnings of temper tantrums.  i just feel so badly for him sometimes since its obvious that he wants something but we just can't communicate that need very well at this point.  its nothing serious right now and we can usually tame them quickly by distraction or being worn in a sling, but i'm not going to lie...it can be frustrating and challenging at times.  i know its a normal phase of development but i hope that we can help him with language and sign development quickly so that we may be able to communicate a little more effectively.

but to end on a more happy note...our big helper likes to mow the lawn as well...
